Retiring the Concept of Retirement
June 21, 12 – 1 p.m. (PT) — Register
Retirement has always been framed as the ultimate end goal, but for many people over 55, it’s just the beginning. From joining new companies to leading multi-generational teams, professionals over 55 have found new ways to learn, contribute to organizations and create new pathways. Retiring doesn’t have to be the end goal, and this event explores what it’s like to rejuvenate your career goals and trajectory. Join this panel of professionals, ages 55 and over, who are re-framing retirement and creating a new definition of career success. Representatives from our UC Alumni Associations will share resources and opportunities to engage your professional development throughout your lifetime.

Social Mobility and Adjusting to an Office Culture
July 18, 12 – 1:15 p.m. — Register
Adjusting to organizational culture can be difficult — even more so if you’re attempting to adapt to this culture having never worked in an office environment. All UC campuses stand out for advancing social mobility, but what happens once you join the workforce after growing up in a blue-collar work environment? Our panel of UC alumni will share how they adjusted to a work environment unlike anything they had experienced. Hear what advice they would have given to their younger selves.

UC National Center for Free Speech and Civic Engagement: Apply for an upcoming institute

The UC National Center for Free Speech and Civic Engagement is currently accepting applications for its next institute, Advancing the Mission of Higher Education in a Polarized Environment. Open to legal counsels, administrators and faculty, attendees will explore strategies for working together to advance the mission of higher education in nationally and locally politically polarized environments. If selected, participants’ costs for travel, lodging and meals will be covered.
