Family-friendly benefits to support you
No matter how much we plan as we build and care for our families, challenges can arise when we least expect them. That’s why UC has expanded benefits and programs designed to anticipate and meet the needs of families.
Here are a few benefits and programs you may not know about, added by UC in the last few years.
Infertility benefits
To ensure that all UC medical plan members have infertility coverage they can count on, UC now offers enhanced benefits that apply across all UC’s non-Medicare plans, including coverage of in vitro fertilization and prescription infertility drugs.
See the Infertility Benefits Fact SheetPDF to learn more.
Adoption Assistance Plan
Are you growing your family through adoption? If you’re eligible, UC will reimburse you for up to $5,000 of adoption-related expenses.
For details about eligibility and how the plan works, visit the Adoption Assistance Plan page on UCnet.
Pay for Family Care and Bonding
UC is committed to supporting faculty and staff who need time off to care for a family member or to bond with a new child. The Pay for Family Care and Bonding (PFCB) program gives employees the option to replace some of the income they would otherwise lose during an approved Family and Medical Leave.
Family and Medical Leave (FML) is job-protected leave provided by the University for specified family and medical reasons consistent with the federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the California Family Rights Act (CFRA), and California’s Pregnancy Disability Leave Law (PDLL). PFCB is not an option if you’re taking FML for your own serious health condition or your pregnancy disability.
