Get ready to celebrate Diwali on Tuesday

Come join the UCOP Asian Pacific Islander Staff Association (APISA) on Tuesday, Nov. 7, to celebrate Diwali or “festival of lights.”

The name Diwali is derived from the Sanskrit word Dipawali, which means “rows of light.” Diwali is one of the major religious festivals for Hindus across the globe and marks the victory of good over evil. Hindu families celebrate this festival by decorating their homes with candles and colorful lights, and gathering with family members and friends to enjoy delicious food and time together.

Please join us in celebrating this vibrant and joyous occasion at UCOP with delicious Indian snacks, sweets, music, conversation and more! We will set up a Diwali cultural corner with decorations and more information about the holiday and, as part of the festivities, we will have a henna artist on-site.

Colleagues are welcome to attend in South Asian/Indian attire!
