UC Health launches climate pledge progress report

Climate action has never been more important than it is today to health care providers. Addressing climate change is not merely a response to the environmental challenge, but a global imperative to protect our collective health and well-being.

University of California Health is committed to delivering exceptional clinical care to all those we serve, educating future generations of health professionals, and conducting research that improves the health and quality of life for all Californians.

As a signatory to the White House and Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Sector Climate Pledge — alongside more than 130 other organizations representing 900 hospitals — UC Health is working to develop comprehensive and equity-focused climate resilience plans across the system.

To demonstrate our fulfillment of the third component of the Health Sector Climate Pledge, we recently released a report detailing the progress of these plans, featuring examples from individual Health Centers and identifying a plan of action for the next steps in UC Health’s resilience planning journey.

Congratulations to the UC Health colleagues and student fellow contributors who have played a crucial role in advancing climate resilience for UC health centers and the communities they serve! The collective knowledge and dedication reflected in this report showcase UC Health’s collaborative approach to addressing climate resilience challenges.
