Congratulations to the newest UCOP Accessibility Champions
The UCOP IT Accessibility Work Group advocates for accessibility, implements web accessibility standards and provides accessibility education and training to UCOP staff. Accessibility Champions are UCOP employees nominated by the workgroup, or any UCOP colleague, for their demonstrated commitment to ensuring that UCOP websites and digital content are accessible to people with disabilities.
Congratulations to the following employees!
When Data Analytics Manager Mahsa Ashabi learned that a vendor-supported form had accessibility barriers, she immediately contacted the vendor to fix the issues. She was diplomatic but firm and escalated the problem when remediation was delayed. Mahsa is a wonderful accessibility partner. It’s an absolute pleasure to work alongside her to make UC more accessible for everyone!
Jeff MacCharles, a senior web applications administrator at UCPath, works on a variety of projects to improve and make UCPath systems better for everyone. Understanding the importance of incorporating accessibility feedback throughout a project, Jeff has ensured that the features he is responsible for are tested and retested before deployment. He has championed accessibility at UCOP while working to “move accessibility left” in the development cycle.
Jennifer Luong is an academic data and compensation analyst in Systemwide Academic Personnel, where she is responsible for publishing several systemwide compensation reports and salary scales. She has demonstrated her commitment to accessibility by gaining a broad understanding of potential pitfalls, and their solutions, when preparing PDF documents. She is also diligent in making sure that these reports are accessible on UCOP’s digital platforms. Thank you, Jennifer, for championing accessibility at UCOP!
