APISA presents: Pilipinx American History Month at UCOP
Mabuhay! Happy Pilipinx American History Month!
This month commemorates the anniversary of the first recorded Pilipinx Americans to step foot in the United States on Oct. 18, 1597.
Today, Pilipinx Americans are the second largest Asian American group in the U.S. As we celebrate this important month, let us acknowledge the ways in which 4.1 million Pilipinx Americans have contributed their unique voices and talents to changing our country for the better — including throughout the University of California!
On Oct. 23, 2024, from 1 – 3 p.m., please join members of the Asian Pacific Islander Staff Association (APISA) on the Oakland 5th Floor Patio. We will sample tasty, traditional foods from Jollibee, watch a student performance from UC Berkeley’s Pilipinx Community and explore Pilipinx student organizations. We hope to see you there!
