Attend a virtual screening of a UC Berkeley Free Speech Movement documentary
October 1 marked Free Speech Day in California, established by the legislature in 1985 through the advocacy of UC Berkeley Free Speech Movement participants. To commemorate this important day, colleagues Lisa Schiff and Jade Yonehiro are hosting a special virtual screening of the documentary “Inside the Free Speech Movement.”
Directed by Linda Rosen, a Free Speech Movement participant, and edited by Jai Jai Noire and Tonya Staros with Melanie Mentzel, this is the first documentary produced by the Berkeley Historical Society and Museum. It features historic photographs, original sound recordings and oral history interviews that were captured in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the Free Speech Movement. A Q&A session will follow the showing of the 56-minute film.
