Tuesday: Join APISA in celebrating Diwali in Oakland or on Zoom

Nazakat at Berkeley dancers

Nazakat at Berkeley, a dance team trained in the ancient North Indian classical dance known as Kathak, will be among the performers featured during this year’s UCOP Diwali celebration.

This Tuesday, Nov. 19, join the Asian Pacific Islander Staff Association (APISA) in celebrating Diwali, the festival of lights, at the Broadway Conference Center or via Zoom!

This joyous occasion will feature:

  • Shared stories about the history and cultural significance of Diwali
  • Traditional, delicious South Asian treats and tea
  • UC Berkeley Indian dance performers
  • An Indian singing performance by a UCOP colleague
  • Henna hand painting
  • The lighting of the diya — traditional Indian oil lamps

Join us to enjoy music, art, conversation and more! Colleagues are welcome to attend in South Asian/Indian attire.
