Changes coming to VPN
UCOP Information Technology Services (ITS) is committed to continually improving the security of our information systems. To support this effort, we require the use of a VPN when accessing our network remotely.
On March 25, we will transition from AnyConnect to Global Protect as our new VPN solution. At that time, ITS will deploy Global Protect to all UCOP-owned devices.
Please be on the lookout for instructions for logging in to Global Protect on the morning of March 25.
When should you use the UCOP VPN service?
You must use UCOP VPN when you are:
- Remotely changing your UCOP password
- Remotely accessing resources that are otherwise accessible only via the internal UCOP network (e.g., file shares, server interfaces, consoles and some sensitive applications)
Using UCOP VPN is also recommended when you access UC-related applications and resources from a non-trusted network (e.g., when you’re on wi-fi at a coffee shop, local business, hotel, airport or a friend’s house).
