Oakland employees: Franklin fire alarm testing starts this weekend
The Building and Administrative Service Center (BASC) team will begin conducting fire alarm testing in the Franklin building this Saturday, July 26, and Sunday, July 27. If you will be in the Franklin building during the testing period, you may hear alarms, see strobe lights and experience elevator interruptions throughout the day.
No evacuation is required unless you’re directed otherwise by Facilities or Emergency Services staff.
This testing is part of a multi-week process required for clearance by the fire marshal to ensure our safety and evacuation readiness. BASC expects the testing period to continue on the weekends through August 17. While it is not currently planned, we may conduct testing after hours on weekdays, if needed.
Thank you for your cooperation as we work to maintain a safe and compliant environment. If you have any questions about the fire alarm testing, contact Facilities Project Manager Jihee Lee.
