Join the Operational Excellence CoP for two upcoming process-improvement events

In addition to the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification scheduled for January 22, the Operational Excellence Community of Practice (OE CoP) is offering two more events in January to provide colleagues with opportunities to explore and learn best practices in process improvement.

OE CoP Meeting: A Journey to ACC Form Elimination
Jan. 15, 11:10 a.m. – 12 p.m. (PT)
This Thursday, Procurement Analyst Natalie Gaglioti will present her award-winning Lean Six Sigma Green Belt project that led to the elimination of the Approval of Contractors and Consultants (ACC) form. She will share the problem she faced, her analysis, the stakeholder engagement process and the decisions that made real change possible.

Ideal for anyone interested in process improvement, Lean projects or reducing unnecessary work, this session will cover how to:

  • Identify and challenge work that adds little or no value
  • Apply Lean thinking to simplify approvals and reduce administrative burden
  • Navigate change with stakeholders in a regulated environment
  • Translate improvement tools into practical, sustainable results

To attend, join via Zoom (pre-registration is not needed).

Process Management Essentials: Best Practices For Process Mapping and Management at UCOP
Jan. 29, 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. (PT)

Get hands-on experience with Nintex Process Manager — an enterprise-licensed tool available to all UCOP employees to streamline and improve workflows through process documentation.

Register through the UC Learning Center to learn the basics of Nintex, explore its AI features and practice documenting a process from start to finish. Through a group simulation, you’ll explore essential process-improvement concepts and methodologies that you can apply directly to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in your daily work. You can expect:

  • Interactive learning: Come prepared with a process you’d like to map — or use one of our class samples.
  • Live coaching & mapping: Receive expert guidance as you create your process map in real time.
  • Practical takeaways: Leave the session with a draft process map, new skills and confidence to apply best practices.
  • Community connection: Join a growing network of UCOP staff committed to operational excellence.

If possible, please bring a simple process you’d like to map.

For questions about either of these events, contact Helena Weiss-Duman. You can also join the OE CoP email list and visit the department website
