Wendy Hunter Barker, assistant dean of Strategy and External Relations at UC San Diego’s Rady School of Management, has been named UC’s next staff advisor designate to the Board of Regents. Her UC journey began more than 30 years ago as a UCLA undergraduate and student employee and has included roles across UCLA and UC San Diego.
A first-gen student from a lower-income background, Wendy says her UC education transformed her life and shaped her commitment to access, belonging and staff success. In her new role, she looks forward to connecting with staff across UC and elevating their voices at the systemwide level. “When we listen to frontline staff before we make decisions, we’re all better off,” she says.
