UC announces Board of Regents chair and vice chair, committee leadership appointments for 2026–27

On June 30, the University of California announced new Board of Regents leadership and committee appointments for 2026–27. Regent Maria Anguiano was appointed chair of the Board, and Regent Mark Robinson was appointed vice chair; both began serving one-year terms on July 1, 2026.

Anguiano, a first-generation college student and longtime advocate for educational opportunity, has held leadership roles across higher education, including at Arizona State University, UC Riverside and the UC Office of the President. She also currently chairs the James Irvine Foundation Board of Directors. UC President James B. Milliken praised her experience and perspective, noting her preparation to help lead UC at a pivotal moment for higher education.

Robinson is co-president of Centerview Partners Holdings LLC and a UC Berkeley alumnus. He has supported UC Berkeley through leadership and philanthropy, including helping establish the Robinson Life Science, Business, and Entrepreneurship Program.

UC also announced 2026–27 chairs for its standing committees, including Academic and Student Affairs, Finance and Capital Strategies, Public Engagement and Development, Compliance and Audit, Health Services, Investments and National Laboratories. Board members serve as volunteers without compensation.
