Find guidance and community through the UCOP Mentorship Program

Career advice can start with a conversation — and grow into a lasting professional relationship. The 2027 UCOP Mentorship Program pairs staff with experienced colleagues to explore career goals, work through challenges and learn more about UCOP culture.

The free program offers one-on-one guidance, monthly mentee cohort meetings and mentor learning opportunities. Pairs can meet in person or virtually, with mentees setting goals and shaping their learning experience.

“I had a lot of valuable career guidance and coaching from my mentor,” shared a past participant. “The support from my mentor, mentee cohort and Mentorship Program leader made my journey a great experience.”

How to get started

Program requirements:

  • Mentees may be career, contract or represented staff in any classification. Applicants must have at least one year of UCOP service and a performance evaluation rating of “Solid Performance” or above.
  • Mentors are experienced UCOP leaders or staff with at least one year of service who want to support colleagues’ professional development. Former mentees are welcome to participate as mentors.

Annual participation averages about 40 hours for mentees and 20 hours for mentors. Prospective mentees should discuss participation with their supervisors before applying.

Interested in participating? Learn more at the online information session on Friday, Oct. 30, from 11–11:30 a.m. Register for the information session.

Apply as a mentee or complete the mentor interest form.

Celebrating the mentoring community

Recent mentor socials at Oakland UCOP and Riverside’s UCPath Center brought past and present participants together to celebrate the relationships built through the program. Colleagues enjoyed refreshments, reconnected with familiar faces and met fellow mentors and mentees.
