Boost your cybersecurity savvy this October
October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month — a national recognition established in 2004 to encourage the public and private sectors to partner in raising awareness about the importance of cybersecurity in our professional and personal lives.
At UCOP, we’re recognizing the occasion by sharing best practices in keeping digital information safe. Read on for ideas on how to get involved.
Explore AI and cybersecurity
The UC Systemwide Information Security team encourages colleagues to explore the role of AI in cybersecurity.
Benefits: Because AI can analyze vast amounts of data, spot patterns that might indicate a cyberattack, and even predict where attacks might occur, it can be a helpful tool for keeping us safe online — even helping to identify potential cyber threats before they cause harm.
Risks: Cybercriminals can use AI, too, and may use it to develop more sophisticated attacks.
While AI can strengthen our defenses, we must remain vigilant. Understanding AI and its influence helps us protect not only our workplaces but also our personal lives from cyber threats. By staying informed about AI’s benefits and risks, we can better protect our personal information, our homes, and our workplaces in an increasingly digital world.
