Save the date to celebrate Diwali with APISA
On Oct. 21, all UCOP staff are invited to join Asian Pacific Islander Staff Association (APISA) members for their annual Diwali celebration!
This hybrid event will feature shared stories, an Indian diya lighting ceremony, singing, music and a dance performance — along with an opportunity for Oakland attendees to enjoy delicious Indian treats and conversation. Colleagues are welcome to attend in South Asian/Indian attire.
Event schedule
Schedule reflects Pacific Time. Hybrid event participants are encouraged to join via Zoom from 1:30 – 2 p.m.Â
- 1:30 – 1:35 p.m. – Welcome by event organizers
- 1:35– 1:40 p.m. – Diya lighting by UCOP and APISA leaders
- 1:40– 1:45 p.m. – Singing performance
- 1:45 – 2 p.m. – Dance performance
- 2 – 3 p.m. – Socializing with colleagues over music and food
Throughout the event, in-person attendees will enjoy food, a hand-selected Indian music playlist, Rangoli art, delicious Indian savory snacks (samosas and pakoras), and favorite sweets by the Diwali planning committee

- Where: Oakland Broadway Conference Center and Zoom
- RSVP: For in-person attendees, no registration is required. Virtual attendees should register to join by Zoom
