The event will convene national leaders from higher education, journalism, law and the arts to examine emerging challenges to free expression — and the role universities play in protecting open inquiry.

UC President James B. Milliken will help frame the conversation alongside Michelle Deutchman, executive director of the Center, underscoring the university’s commitment to free expression as a cornerstone of its teaching, research and public service mission.

Through timely panel discussions, speakers will explore issues including press freedom, artistic expression and the growing pressures facing higher education institutions. The conference continues UC’s leadership in advancing thoughtful, informed dialogue across perspectives.
