UCOP Creating Accessible Documents 1: MS Office
April 21, 1 – 2:30 p.m.
Digital accessibility is about ensuring that users with disabilities can easily access and engage with any digital content. In this course, you’ll learn the principles of digital accessibility, how to generate accessible Microsoft Office Documents and how to export these documents to PDF. This is the first course in the series and a prerequisite for UCOP Creating Accessible Documents 2: PDFs.
Box Advanced
April 28, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
In this advanced Box class, we’ll cover a variety of topics, including securely storing sensitive data in Box; sending data to Box via email or URL; setting up alerts to monitor folders; and using Box groups to manage department collaborations.
Excel Power BI
May 5, 12 & 19, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Learn about and practice using Power BI in this three-session workshop. Attendees will learn how to connect to data sources; perform data cleaning, profiling and shaping; visualize data and create interactive visualizations; enhance reports and dashboards; and publish and share reports and dashboards. You will need Power BI Desktop installed on your computer for this class. Learn how to request software.
Lean Six Sigma – Yellow Belt
May 7, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. | Oakland: Fraklin Lobby 1
This dynamic, interactive training program is designed specifically for UC staff. Through a hands-on group simulation, you’ll explore essential process improvement concepts and methodologies that can be directly applied to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in your daily work. Upon course completion, you will be certified as a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt practitioner. This interactive training includes some physical movement. Design Thinking Reimagined: Creativity Meets AI
May 8, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Whether you’re new to design thinking or ready to deepen your practice, this session will provide hands-on experience applying key principles, enhanced by accessible and practical AI tools. Design thinking is an iterative process to develop creative solutions to problems. You’ll walk away with a practical understanding of using AI thoughtfully and ethically to support your innovation process.
Box Fundamentals
May 13, 1 – 2 p.m.
Get an overview of Box.com, the cloud-based service that offers secure file storage and file sharing at UCOP. Learn how to use Box to collaborate with people in and outside of UCOP. Plus, discover file comments, folder permissions, shared links and other tools to help you get the most out of Box. IT administrators will review the platform’s best features, then answer questions.
Microsoft Excel Macro and VBA
May 20 and 27, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
In this two-part series, you’ll learn how Macros and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) can help you customize and automate repetitive tasks in Excel. Macros can automate tasks to be repeated and where they are limited, VBA coding can expand your ability to perform necessary tasks. Topics include recording, executing, editing and adding VBAs to Macros; interacting, design-decision-making and looping VBAs; and debugging VBA techniques. Before enrolling you must have completed MS Excel Intermediate or have the requisite skills taught in that class.
