Psychological Skills for Managing Stress and Change
June 2, 12 – 1 p.m.
Join Dr. Ana Dolatabadi of the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program for this impactful workshop on building practical skills to help you regulate stress, maintain perspective and access your thinking during challenging times. The session will explore strategies for staying steady amid multiple stressors, caring for yourself in sustainable ways and finding moments of connection and meaning within your community. You’ll leave with concrete tools to support your well-being while continuing to meet the demands of work and life.

How Positive Discourse Shapes the Workplace
June 11, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Positive discourse fosters a receptive environment — a powerful resource and motivator that inspires others to think and act more positively while making our intentions, values and beliefs known to others. As leaders, the language we use can be the difference between a high-functioning and positive environment or high turnover and disgruntlement. We’ll also explore the science of gratitude, define discourse and uncover how it affects teams, identify the language of leadership, and learn steps to shift language for a positive team culture.

21 Practices for Mindfulness and Happiness at Work — New date!
June 16, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Presented by People-On The Go, this workshop helps participants develop and practice mindfulness, emotional intelligence, growth mindset and productivity skills that are crucial in today’s workplace. We’ll focus on prioritizing behavioral changes and initiative-taking while also paying attention to self-care, stress reduction, fostering enjoyment and self-fulfillment. The workshop blends short presentations, interactive exercises and an overview of several mindfulness practices.

Navigating Change and Transitions
June 17, 1 – 3 p.m.
“The only thing that is constant is change.” — Heraclitus, who lived 100 years before Plato, knew this, and it is still true in today’s world. This workshop will explore the human response to change and stages within the transition process. Participants will expand their capability to successfully navigate through personal and professional changes through the William Bridges’ Transition Model and Psychological Flexibility framework.

Software and technology

UCOP Creating Accessible Documents 1: MS Office
June 16, 1 – 2:30 p.m.
Digital accessibility is about ensuring users with disabilities can easily access and engage with any digital content. In this course, you will learn the principles of digital accessibility, how to generate accessible Microsoft Office documents, and how to export them to PDF. This is the first course in the series and a prerequisite for UCOP Creating Accessible Documents 2: PDFs.

Career development

Crafting an Effective Resume
June 17, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Learn how to turn your experience into a resume that gets noticed! In this interactive two-hour workshop, you’ll learn how to highlight your strengths and avoid the most common mistakes recruiters and hiring managers see. The session will focus on telling a cohesive story, formatting, sections to include and strategies to minimize the impact of unconscious bias in a recruiting process. We’ll also discuss AI and the Applicant Tracking System (ATS). Come prepared with your most current resume to reflect on during the session.

For people managers

Managing Represented Employees
June 5, 9 – 10:30 a.m.
This session will provide managers with essential guidance for effectively managing represented employees in a unionized environment. You’ll learn the fundamentals of labor relations, including contract awareness, roles and responsibilities, and appropriate communication practices.

People Leaders Forum: Supporting Employees in Navigating Change & Transition
June 26, 1 – 2 p.m.
The People Leaders Forum is a monthly opportunity for people managers to connect with one another to develop leadership skills, build community, share best practices, swap strategies for navigating current challenges and learn to better support themselves and their teams. This month’s session will focus on guiding your employees as they navigate changes and transitions in the workplace.
