With guidance from UC Press, Current History, the oldest continuously published journal on global affairs in the U.S., has begun a new chapter under an editorial team from UC’s Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation. The redesigned journal is led by editor Lindsay Shingler, along with Stephan Haggard and Zethyn McKinley.

Beginning with its July 2026 issue, Current History is moving beyond its traditional regional focus to explore broader themes shaping the world today. The team is also bringing in more voices — including scholars, journalists, writers and artists — with an emphasis on accessible, engaging stories that put people at the center of global affairs.
