UC President Janet Napolitano recently made some personnel changes in the President’s Executive Office to both augment and restructure the staffing required to support her evolving agenda.

Nina Robinson will assume the title of associate president – chief policy advisor, continuing to report directly to the president and serve as lead advisor on a broad range of policy and operational issues. The role will tap into Nina’s extensive knowledge of the university and her strong relationships with UCOP staff and campus, medical center and laboratory colleagues.

Seth Grossman has joined OP as the president’s chief of staff. In this role, he will have primary responsibility for managing the President’s Executive Office. Seth comes to UC from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), where he served as deputy general counsel and counselor to the secretary, overseeing all significant litigation for the department, including in the U.S. Supreme Court, and managing the department’s regulatory program. Prior to DHS, Seth worked in the Department of the Treasury, as a special assistant to the chairperson of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, and in private legal practice.

Deputy Chief of Staff Kevin McCauley will continue in his current role, assisting Seth, Nina and President Napolitano with the operations of the President’s Executive Office.
