Yvette Gullatt appointed Vice Provost for Education Partnerships
Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Aimée Dorr has issued the following announcement to the UCOP community:
It is a great pleasure to announce the appointment of Dr. Yvette Gullatt as Vice Provost for Education Partnerships. She was selected following a broad search and rigorous selection process, from which she emerged as a clear frontrunner. She is a proven leader, with a clear vision for the future, exemplary communication skills, considerable creativity and ingenuity, and sustained passion for her work. She is widely known and respected, and she understands well the young people, families and schools with which Education Partnerships programs work.
Yvette will lead a department crucial to the University of California’s efforts to ensure access to postsecondary education for more low-income, educationally disadvantaged California students from diverse backgrounds. Education Partnerships provides UC campuses with research on best practices, support for credential candidate recruitment and preparation, and support for educator leadership initiatives. It administers a variety of statewide academic programs for college preparation.
Yvette has long and deep roots in the University of California. She earned B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees in English from UC Berkeley. She has worked for nearly 20 years on policy, strategic partnerships and program design and delivery that improve student learning and achievement, first at Berkeley and then at UCOP. Given her experience in the field and her proven success at the Office of the President, she is uniquely qualified to be the Vice Provost for Education Partnerships for the University of California, effectively our chief outreach officer.
Please join me in welcoming her to this new role.
