Be earthquake ready: 20 percent discount at UCOP’s emergency supplier

Has last weekend’s Napa earthquake got you thinking about how you can be better prepared at home when the next big one hits?
UC employees are eligible for a 20 percent discount on products from Nexis Preparedness Systems, a Livermore-based emergency preparedness company that UCOP Risk Services and some other UC campuses use for emergency supplies.
“Nexis’s products and pricing are both good,” said Robert Charbonneau, director of Environmental & Emergency Services.. “What’s really useful is that you can build your own ‘customized’ emergency kit to suit your personal needs.”
Risk Services purchased customized three-day emergency kits, which are stockpiled at Franklin for distribution in the event of a disaster. Because UC has a systemwide contract with Nexis, employees are eligible for the discount when they purchase supplies for their personal use.
