Vote for UCOP’s P200 and Bill Cooper, among finalists for innovation award

The University of California’s aggressive procurement efforts, which leverage the UC system’s size and buying power and last year successfully delivered $128 million in savings, is a finalist for the SuperNova Award.

The P200 Strategic Procurement Program, led by UCOP Associate Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer William Cooper and the systemwide Procurement Leadership Council, increased savings 28 percent over the previous fiscal year. The program successfully pooled resources across the system, implemented new systemwide sourcing agreements, leveraged the latest technologies to source high quality products at the lowest cost and improved its data reporting and analytics.

P200 is part of the systemwide Working Smarter Initiative, which improves and streamlines UC’s administrative operations and redirects savings and revenue toward the university’s core missions of teaching, research and public service.
The program is among eight finalists in the SuperNova Awards’ Technology Optimization and Innovation category.
The SuperNova Award, which has seven categories, celebrates leaders and teams across the country who successfully overcome hurdles in introducing new and innovative technologies to their organizations. The award program is headed by the research and advisory firm Constellation Research Inc.
Winners will be announced at a gala dinner Oct. 29.
