UC employees and students traveling on official university business have long benefited from great travel insurance. Now UC staff can also purchase comparable coverage at highly competitive rates for their own personal travel outside the United States.

The UC Personal Travel Program provides convenient coverage and valuable travel assistance services — including travel cancellation coverage and real-time alerts — for UCOP employees to purchase for themselves, their families and traveling companions when traveling outside the United States.

Coverage provides emergency medical services, including accident and sickness benefits, emergency medical and security evacuation, replacement of prescription medication and eyeglasses, pre-travel resources and other valuable travel assistance services. Also available is a trip cancellation benefit of up to $2,000 in the event your trip must be canceled.

There are three plan options providing a range of coverage benefits for as little as $21.20 per week. You can also register your itinerary to receive customized real-time alerts covering entry/exit, security, health, transportation, culture, language, environment, financial, communication and legal concerns for more than 580 cities and 230 countries.

As with any commercial travel insurance, the traveler is responsible for paying the premium, arranging for any travel assistance services and resolving any claim or coverage issues directly with the insurance carrier.
