It’s easy to participate in holiday gift drive, extended to Dec. 22
The spirit of the season continues with OP’s drive to support the East Oakland Community Project (EOCP), a multiservice organization that offers emergency and transitional housing to the homeless in Alameda County.
If you haven’t yet gotten a chance to participate, you still have time. The drive has been extended to Monday, Dec. 22, and it’s easy to get involved.
Just select one or more gift tags from the giving tree (on the Franklin lobby wall across from security) and purchase those items for residents of the EOCP shelter. Gifts include useful items like rain ponchos and scarves, or wish list items for five families.
There’s no need to wrap the gifts; just affix the gift tag to the item and deposit it by 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22, in the large gift boxes under the display. You can also donate cash for UCOP volunteers to purchase specific items or just give cash. President Napolitano will personally deliver the gifts to EOCP on Tuesday, Dec. 23.
If you’re located in a building other than Franklin and would like to participate, you can make an online donation to the EOCP or place clearly marked gifts in your outbox for pickup by UCOP Mail Services. Feel free to contact Donna Collins at Donna.Collins@ucop.edu or Kevin McCauley at Kevin.McCauley@ucop.edu for an assignment of a gift to purchase and bring over to Franklin or put it in your outbox.
