Office 365 update
Information Technology Services (ITS) is going to roll out a new cloud-based email system, called Office 365, over the next several months.
The Office 365 suite includes Outlook email and instant messaging, and it can accommodate mailboxes of unlimited size. By moving to a cloud-based system, UCOP will reduce the cost of email support and storage.
ITS has selected a vendor, Coyote Creek Tech, to conduct the migration to Office 365 and will complete testing by early August. If all goes as planned, the roll-out will start in early fall and take place department by department. avoiding heavy-use times, such as Open Enrollment. Employees should experience no business disruption during the migration. Completion target is the end of the calendar year.
Because we’ll still be working in Outlook, the adjustment for employees is expected to be minimal. Nonetheless, ITS will provide a demo model, enabling staff to see and play with the product before the migration.
