Meet your 2015–16 OP Staff Assembly Steering Committee

The OP Staff Assembly (OPSA) Steering Committee has kicked off another year of ambitious initiatives, fun social events and outreach activities — all designed to build engagement, connection and quality of life within the OP community.
Taking the helm as OPSA chair is Candace Jones, senior applications manager for Information Technology Services. She will lead the committee of eight volunteer staff that includes newly elected member Bobby Cook and returning members Tracy Fitzgerald, Matthew Leet and Karla Wood. All members were selected in an OP-wide election.
The group hosted several successful events this past year, such as a Mardi Gras social for all OP staff and a new brown bag series, Movin’ On Up, to give employees the opportunity to hear career stories of those who have navigated their way up at UC and learn from the challenges, successes and inspirations of various staff members.
“We had such a successful year in 2014–15 and I am excited to continue that momentum,” said Jones. “We are committed to staff engagement and as a result have made it a priority to address concerns raised in the OP Staff Engagement Survey.”

In 2016, the OP Staff Assembly will be hosting the systemwide delegation of the Council of UC Staff Assemblies (CUCSA), an advisory body composed of two delegates from each of the staff assemblies on the 10 UC campuses, Lawrence Berkeley Lab and OP. The larger group meets quarterly at different campuses to promote staff communication with the UC systemwide community.
Big thanks go out to outgoing members Dan Scannell and Jeanie Urban for their important contributions and years of service on Staff Assembly.
Remember: While the steering committee provides leadership, all OP staff are members of Staff Assembly. All OP staff are welcome to attend monthly meetings, held the second Wednesday of each month (see the Link calendar for upcoming dates).
