Executive director of UCOP Operations appointed

Executive Vice President and COO Rachael Nava announced that Thera Kalmijn has been appointed executive director of UCOP (Local) Operations. Kalmijn, who will report directly to Nava, will start on Oct. 5.
The executive director position is one of the final key pieces of the realignment effort, pulling all local operating units under one leader within the COO Division. The Business Resource Center, UCOP Budget, UCOP (Local) HR, Building Services/Building and Administrative Service Center, Local Information Technology Services and UCOP Procurement will report to Kalmijn.
Kalmijn comes to UCOP from UC Berkeley, where she led the strategy development, implementation and operations as COO of Campus Shared Services, the most extensive shared services operation in higher education. She also has a deep consulting background, including 15 years at Deloitte, where as director of regional operations, she led a team that provided operations, finance, IT, real estate and human resources support to 11 offices in six states.
Kalmijn graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Slavic languages and literature and earned an MBA from the Haas School of Business.
