First and Second Friday events to get a fresh look; on hiatus until spring 2017
The “First Friday @ Franklin” and “Second Friday @ Kaiser” events will be on hiatus beginning in October until next spring while the events undergo a fresh look to assess their effectiveness in facilitating engagement and community building among OP staff.
Started in 2005, the events were created to get employees out of their offices and cubicles for a few moments each month to meet and mingle with new colleagues as well as representatives from senior management and UCOP’s affinity groups.
“It’s been 11 years since the events were launched and a lot has changed here at OP during that time,” said Thera Kalmijn, UCOP’s Executive Director of Operations. “We want to step back, take a look at their effectiveness, and see what improvements we might make to be sure they’re meaningful to employees and serving their intended purpose.”
The UCOP Operations team will lead the assessment, which is expected to take place over the next six months and will include input from a broad cross-section of OP employees, including from the OP Staff Assembly and OP affinity groups.
Watch for updates in Link next spring about the resumption of the events.
