WEDNESDAY: UCOP Multicultural Day and Fire Relief Donation Drive
The Employee Engagement and Diversity Group in partnership with UCOP affinity groups will be hosting UCOP Multicultural Day and a donation drive for those affected by the recent fires in Northern California.
Date: Wednesday, Oct. 18
Time: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Location: Franklin Lobby 1
The purpose of this day is to provide all UCOP staff with the opportunity to learn about different UCOP affinity groups and to collectively support our fellow UC colleagues and others in the community who have been impacted by the fires.
We are working with two organizations (Sports Basement in Berkeley and Hopalong Animal Rescue in Oakland) which will distribute donated items. Here are some items you can bring to Wednesday’s event to donate:
- Non-perishable food in cans or unopened boxes
- New blankets, sheets and towels
- New clothing, underwear and socks
- New, unopened items such as soap, toothpaste, shampoo, feminine products and laundry detergent
- Diapers and formula
- Face masks
- Phone chargers
- New children’s stuffed animals, books, games, card games, coloring books, markers and crayons
- New/unopened pet food, collars, toys, crates, litter boxes, kitty litter, litter scoop and pet pee pads
Also, here are a few organizations taking online monetary donations:
- United Way Bay Area (serving Napa County)
- United Way of the Wine Country (serving Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino and Sonoma counties)
