A message from Thera Kalmijn: UCOP staff engagement survey results
The message below was sent to UCOP employees on Thursday, Feb. 22.
Dear UCOP colleagues:
I want to express my appreciation to the many of you who participated in this year’s staff engagement survey. This collaborative effort between the Council of UC Staff Assemblies (CUCSA) and Systemwide Human Resources’ Employee Relations provides important insight into what’s working and what we can improve upon to make UCOP the best organization it can be.
The survey was sent to more than 20,000 staff throughout the university and roughly 51 percent of those staff responded. UCOP had the highest participation rate of all UC locations.
There were two articles in Link that provided an update on the employee engagement survey, including key findings and next steps. Overall, compared to the last survey, we have made some progress and there are still opportunities for more work to be done.
Next steps
Your ongoing input is important. In consultation with UCOP Leadership, I’ve asked the OP Staff Assembly, the Employee Engagement and Diversity Group and UCOP Human Resources to plan next steps, which will include a brown bag discussion for staff. This will be an opportunity for you to discuss and learn more about the survey results, the action plans underway and some of the new ideas we’re considering.
Details about the brown bag will be provided in the next few weeks.
If you would like to view the survey results prior to the brown bag, click here.
Over the course of the next few months, keep an eye on Link to get updates on the programs and initiatives the Employee Engagement and Diversity Group (EEDG) are working on in response to the survey and other feedback from UCOP staff.
Again, thank you for your participation in this 2017 survey and helping to improve UCOP. I am deeply grateful for all you do for the Office of the President, and the broader UC community.
Sincerely,
Thera Kalmijn
Executive Director, UCOP Operations
