On Thursday, Oct. 18, at 10:18 a.m., UCOP will participate in the Great ShakeOut to provide employees with an opportunity to practice being safe during an earthquake. But there are steps you can take right now to prepare for the drill — and you might win a personal first aid kit.

All UCOP employees should do the following before Thursday:

• Complete an Earthquake “Secure Your Space” Inspection Checklist. Oakland staff should return the completed checklist to their Franklin building floor warden or Kaiser floor warden, or to UCPath Center Building Manager Darryl Brown (if you’re at UCPC), by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18 for a chance to win a personal first aid kit.
• Watch this training video on what to do before, during and after an earthquake.
• Sign up for UCOPAlert, OP’s off-hours notification system, to receive important information in an emergency. UCOPAlert delivers alerts to your home phone, personal cell phone, and/or personal email outside normal business hours about an emergency or situation that affects your workplace or your ability to perform your work.
