The UCOP Mentorship Program is accepting applications
The UCOP Mentorship Program is seeking mentees and mentors for its next annual program, which takes place from March 2021 through September, 2021. The Mentorship Program is an exciting opportunity to share and learn career skills and leadership practices, guide and navigate the UCOP culture, and establish long-term professional relationships.
We want to acknowledge the unique context of this year, with so many staff working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After surveying UCOP leaders and staff regarding the interest and need for a mentorship program this year, the Mentorship Steering Committee decided to move forward with an all-virtual 2021 program.
The goal of the UCOP Mentorship Program is to create mentor–mentee pairings that provide a supportive structure for UCOP employees to cultivate contacts, explore challenges and enhance their effectiveness as they grow both personally and professionally.
Interested in becoming a mentee?
UCOP employees at all career levels, with six-months or more UCOP experience, are invited to participate as mentees. To apply, please complete the Mentee application by Friday, Dec. 11, 2020. Please note that priority will be given to those who have not previously participated as mentees.
Interested in becoming a mentor?
Experienced UCOP leaders or staff with at least one year of UCOP service who are interested in helping others with professional and career development are encouraged to apply as mentors. Previous mentors and mentees are welcome to participate. To express interest, please submit the short Mentor Interest Form by Monday, Dec. 7, 2020.
What are past participants saying about the program?
- Over 93% of participants rated the UCOP Mentorship Program a 4 or 5 out of 5.
- More than 96% of mentees stated that their mentor helped them reach their program goals.
“I had a lot of valuable career guidance and coaching from my mentor,” shared one participant. “The support from my mentor, mentee cohort and Mentorship Program leader made my journey a great experience. I highly recommend the Mentorship Program to anyone who is interested in personal growth and building connections within the UCOP community.”
“I think I learned as much or more than my mentee!” reported a previous mentor.
