The President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (PACSW) is again sponsoring the course Making Power Moves: Women and Leadership.
Kicking off Wednesday, March 2, it is taught by Amy Levine, a certified leadership coach, educator and consultant with over 30 years’ experience in helping individuals and groups to reach their goals. Dr. Levine is an expert on topics concerning women in society and is dedicated to addressing issues of ethnic diversity, sexual orientation, age and ability. She earned a doctorate in education from UC Berkeley and also holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology.
Making Power Moves is only offered for UC staff and is an exceptional opportunity. It has received overwhelmingly positive feedback and resulted in some great outcomes for past participants. The class is most beneficial to high-performing individuals who manage people and or projects. It is a great way to help boost your professional development and career goals.

Sessions include a mix of lectures, discussion and interactive exercises on the following topics:
- Managing and leading effectively
- Negotiation
- Organizational politics
- Managing up
- Perspectives on advancement from UC leaders
- Public speaking
- Non-defensive communication
Making Power Moves takes place every Wednesday for 10 weeks, March 2 through May 4, 2022, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. (PT). Although PACSW recognizes that no time is convenient for everyone, we hope that this schedule will allow participants to fully step away from their jobs to focus on professional development.
Participation requires supervisory approval. Most departments cover the course fee.
