Excel Power BI (Session 1 of 3)
Online: Tuesday, May 5, 9am - 12pm
In this class, users will learn about and practice using Power BI. Users will learn how to: Connect to data sources. Perform data cleaning, profiling, and shaping. Visualize data with Power BI. Create interactive visualizations. Enhance reports and dashboards. Publish and share reports and dashboards. NOTE: You will need Power BI Desktop installed on your computer for this class.

In this instructor-led training on the Staff Talent Evaluation Process (STEP), we will expand on the materials presented in the STEP Fundamentals for Employees eCourse by going into detail on the first stage of STEP, Define Criteria. You will practice writing goals and review how to align them to the UCOP Competencies. This course is designed to support new employees and employees who would like a refresher to elevate their STEP goals.

This dynamic, interactive training program is designed specifically for UC staff. Through a hands-on group simulation, you’ll explore essential process improvement concepts and methodologies that can be directly applied to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in your daily work.
Participants who successfully complete the course will be certified as Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt practitioners, equipped to apply their new skills and tools to drive efficiencies within the UC Office of the President. FSAP: An Expressive Arts Webinar for Navigating Uncertainty

Melissa Collins, Program Manager for Security, Risk and Resilience, will facilitate this live virtual class in which participants will learn skills and strategies to respond if exposed to active attacker situations. The course will review real-life incidents and discuss options in the event of potential similar encounters. Melissa joined UCOP after serving 20 years with the UC San Diego Police Department, retiring as a lieutenant, and is a safety expert.

Advance your Excel skills by learning VBA/Macros. In this class you will first become familiar with recording repetitive steps with Macros, then altering code, and learning about VBA scope. Then, you will experience Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) which allows you to customize Excel to fit your changing needs. This is a good place to start in understanding the world of programming and a simplified approach in initial concepts in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Presented by People-On The Go, the “21 Practices for Happiness and Accomplishment @Work” workshop is designed to help participants develop and practice mindfulness, emotional intelligence, growth mindset, and productivity skills that are crucial in today’s workplace. Participants focus on behavioral changes and initiative-taking, while at the same time paying attention to self-care, stress reduction, fostering enjoyment, and self-fulfillment. The workshop consists of a blend of short presentations, brief individual and group interactive exercises, and exposure to a variety of mindfulness practices.

Digital accessibility is about ensuring users with disabilities can easily access and engage with any digital content. In this course, you will learn the principles of digital accessibility, how to generate accessible Microsoft Office Documents and how to export these to PDF. This is the first course in the series and a prerequisite for UCOP Creating Accessible Documents 2: PDFs.
