Volunteer event in San Jose: Help support UC alumni

On Thursday, Aug. 24, the UC Alumni Engagement team is hosting the fifth annual HireUC Alumni Career Fair at Club Sportiva in San Jose, California.
Organized in partnership with Hire Talent, the career fair is a free opportunity for early- and mid-career UC alumni to connect with employers from diverse fields and industries. More than 500 UC alumni and 90 employers are scheduled to attend.
New for this year is an informational session by UC Procurement on how businesses can become suppliers and vendors to UC. The session will focus on UC’s commitments to sustainability and diversity.
The event will also feature motivational speakers, workshops and campus networking breaks. Check out the full schedule here.
How you can help
We need staff support to reflect the unique culture of UC and make this event a success!
Volunteer shifts are available between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and include the following positions:
- Program/workshop support: Assist with greeting and seating participants, along with other tasks as needed by speakers and event staff
- Campus alumni association tables/campus break teams: Greet alumni, distribute swag, answer questions about alumni association resources and offer encouragement
- Floater/alumni encourager: Greet participants, offer encouragement and provide directions to workshops, employers and facilities
- Set up, decor, and clean up teams: Help make our event infrastructure a success
In exchange for your help, all volunteers will receive a badge, swag bag and lunch.
