Office of Ethics, Compliance and Audit Services celebrates the spirit of giving
This holiday season, twenty volunteers from the Office of Ethics, Compliance and Audit Services (ECAS) came together to celebrate the spirit of giving, raising more than $1,000 for Soldiers’ Angels, a nonprofit that provides aid, comfort and resources to deployed service members, veterans and their families.
ECAS “adopted” four families, aiming to support individuals who have courageously served and sacrificed for our nation, ensuring they enjoy a joyful and uplifting holiday season. Each family provided a wish list, and over three weeks, volunteers purchased, wrapped and shipped the items to each family. Every dollar raised went directly to meet the family’s wish list.
One of the families responded by sharing their gratitude and connections with the University of California: “The generosity of your team will not be taken lightly and we plan to pay it forward as soon as we are able. Thank you for all you do for the University of California! My wife received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from UC Santa Cruz back in 2002, and my oldest daughter is currently a senior getting ready to graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in human biology from UC Davis. So, we are a fan of the University of California system.”
Another family wrote, “Thank you all at the University of California. We are so grateful — this means so much to our family!”
As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, Soldiers’ Angels relies on support from donors. If you are interested in joining ECAS in sending holiday cheer and boosting the morale of deployed service members, veterans and their families, you can learn more about ways to give here.
