The UCOP IT Accessibility Work Group advocates for accessibility, implements web accessibility standards and provides accessibility education and training to UCOP staff. Accessibility Champions are UCOP employees nominated by the work group or any UCOP colleague for their demonstrated commitment to ensuring that UCOP websites and digital content are accessible to people with disabilities.

Among his many duties as an academic planning analyst in Institutional Research and Academic Planning (IRAP), Ethan Savage is responsible for updating and maintaining critical policy documents, calendars and rosters. Thanks to his diligence in ensuring those materials are accessible before asking them to be published on the IRAP website, he has streamlined the publishing process and shortened the turnaround time for making his work product available to colleagues and academic planning stakeholders. It is Ethan’s diligence in shepherding accessible documents that makes him an Accessibility Champion. Thank you, Ethan!

Jessica Heredia is the project and policy analyst for equity, diversity and inclusion in Graduate, Undergraduate and Equity Affairs, where she helps to bring essential projects to life. Throughout many months in developing and polishing an upcoming anti-racism e-course, which will begin a systemwide rollout in the coming months, Jessica has remained diligent about addressing accessibility issues. She has partnered with Doug Harriman in the Accessibility Work Group and made adjustments with vendors to ensure that the course meets our UCOP guidelines. Thank you, Jessica, for your meaningful work and your commitment to making that work accessible for all.

Trevor Finneman is the principal counsel for Education Affairs, Public Accountability and Governance. In this role, he advises on many disability issues — including student accommodations, online accessibility and the physical accessibility of University of California campuses and facilities. He also provides legal advisement to UCOP programs and services on how they can strategically plan for the accessibility of their services and serves on the university system’s Electronic Accessibility Committee (EAC). Recently, Trevor worked on UC’s comment letter on the Department of Justice’s Title II Notice of Proposed Rule-Making (NPRM) regarding digital accessibility. This work ensures that the university has clarity on the details of the proposed rules and can uphold our compliance with accessible standards for all of our users.
