UC Berkeley has released the latest edition of its Summer Reading List for New Students. With “Defining Moments” as its theme, this year’s list features engaging works of fiction and nonfiction — a wide range of books (plus one film) — recommended by enthusiastic Cal faculty, staff and students. Each one concerns a defining moment (or, more often, a lot of defining moments) for individuals, communities or the world.
