Veterans Among US (VAUS) is UCOP’s newest employee resource group. To build a sense of community and camaraderie among UCOP staff, they are sponsoring a Selfless Service photo project this month.

The Selfless Service photo project will recognize veterans and service members, past and present, at UCOP and those connected to UCOP employees. To participate:

1. Upload a high-resolution photo to this Box folder labeled with your last name.
2. Send an email to link@ucop.edu with your name, UCOP title and a caption for the photo.

The submission deadline is July 1, 2024. Photos will be shared in a future issue of Link and displayed on digital screens in Oakland (pending editorial approval).

Why “selfless service”? It is part of the seven Army values of the acronym LDRSHIP, which is the Army’s foundation of service: to people, the country and to each other:

“Put the welfare of the nation, the Army and your subordinates before your own. Selfless service is larger than just one person. In serving your country, you are doing your duty loyally without thought of recognition or gain. The basic building block of selfless service is the commitment of each team member to go a little further, endure a little longer, and look a little closer to see how he or she can add to the effort.”
