Under the Phased Retirement Program that began this month, staff members who are 55 or older can reduce their work hours by at least 10 percent a year for up to three years before retiring. Employees receive a lump sum upon retirement equal to half the amount they would have otherwise earned.

The Service Award Milestone Achievement and Innovation and Impact Awards Celebration will be held 2-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25 at the Elihu Harris State Office Building Auditorium.

The UCOP Wellness Program is sponsoring a food drive from Oct. 24 to 28 to benefit the Alameda County Food Bank. The drive coincides with National Food Day, encouraging Americans to “eat real” and support healthy and sustainable foods.

The proposed Phased Retirement Program offers staff an incentive to reduce their work hours by 10 percent per year for up to three years before retiring. Employee comments on the program will be taken until 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18.
UC Berkeley's academic deans are sponsoring a forum on the future of the public university, from 12 to 2 p.m. at UC Berkeley's Pauley Ballroom. Submit questions before, during or after the event, and stay tuned for more forums.
