Under the Phased Retirement Program that began this month, staff members who are 55 or older can reduce their work hours by at least 10 percent a year for up to three years before retiring. Employees receive a lump sum upon retirement equal to half the amount they would have otherwise earned.

For tax year 2012, IRS pre-tax limits will change for qualified parking expenses from $230 to $240 per month and for qualified transit passes and vanpooling expenses from $230 to $125 per month.

UC employees systemwide will be able to find emergency backup care using online database Sittercity, a new benefit available beginning Jan. 1, 2012.
Pre-orders of UC Davis Russell Ranch Dried Tomatoes must be received by Wednesday, Dec. 7, to guarantee availability at UCOP on Dec. 14.
All UC faculty, staff and retirees who have dependents enrolled in UC-sponsored medical, dental and other insurance plans will be asked to validate their dependents' eligibility in a project slated to begin in February 2012.

The Internal Revenue Service recently announced the 2012 maximum annual contribution (MAC) limit for UC's Retirement Savings Program's 403(b) Plan and/or 457(b) Plan, both increasing to $17,000.
