2009 Holiday Closure Information

UCOP will be closed beginning Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009 through Friday, Jan. 1, 2009.* The office will reopen Monday, Jan. 4. Some departments who perform essential services may be open during the break as determined by each Vice President.

During this break, there are four working days scheduled as UCOP furlough days: Dec. 23, 28, 29, and 30. Employees exempt from furlough days, such as START participants and union represented staff, will be given the option of using accrued vacation, compensatory time-off, or leave without pay for the closure days. Employees exempt from furlough days should arrange in advance with their supervisors to utilize either vacation, compensatory time-off, or leave without pay for these days.

Employees in positions represented by UPTE may be eligible to work during these closure days. UPTE represented employees planning to work during this period must make arrangements with their manager or supervisor to do so.

In the event an employee has not accumulated a sufficient amount of furlough time before December to cover the closure days, arrangements will be made to allow those individuals to borrow against future furlough time.

* Some departments may be closing prior to Dec. 23. Please contact your supervisor to confirm dates applicable to your department.
