Vice President of Student Affairs to aid Census 2010
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed Judy Sakaki, Vice President of Student Affairs, to the California Complete Count Committee, the official entity that is partnering with the U.S. Census Bureau for Census 2010.
Her role on the CCCC will be to offer expertise in developing a robust outreach strategy that ensures a complete and accurate count of every person who resides in California.
California’s schools, communities, roads, hospitals and a number of congressional seats depend on a complete census count for the state. Approximately $3.6 billion in education program funding is also at stake during this decennial census count.
Given the importance of ensuring that all UC students are accurately and completely counted, Sakaki is working with the Vice Chancellors for Student Affairs, as well as members of UC’s Student Association, student body government, and campus newspapers to develop the best outreach strategies for ensuring that all UC students counted on April 1st.
Membership in the CCCC includes executive representation from education, local and regional government, faith-based, media, community-based, non-profit and private organizations throughout California. Other committee members include Regent Monica Lozano, Ex-Officio Regents Karen Bass and Jack O’Connell, and Lance Izumi, President of the California Community Colleges.
