UCOP Cares helps Frick Middle School plant a garden
A dozen UCOP staffers came together Friday, April 16 to help students at Frick Middle School in Oakland plant a vegtable garden. Chen Yin Noah, the associate director for the natural reserve system, worked with the school and OP volunteers to organize the Earth Day event and solicit garden donations. In all, more than 27 OP staff got involved — either contributing materials or their time. The results were impressive: In a few short hours, plots of waist-high weeds were transformed into beds filled with lettuce, herbs, squash, strawberries, tomatoes and more.
