Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed Judy Sakaki, Vice President of Student Affairs, to the California Complete Count Committee, the official entity that is partnering with the U.S. Census Bureau for Census 2010. She will offer expertise in developing a robust outreach strategy that ensures a complete and accurate count of every person who resides in California.
The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation has awarded research fellowships to 17 early career scientists and scholars at the University of California. Winners include promising, early career academics from chemistry, computer science, mathematics, molecular biology, and physics.

President Mark Yudof met with students in Sacramento on Monday and pledged to focus systemwide attention on preventing acts of intolerance.
UC, in an effort to help employees balance their work and life needs, is considering changing some personnel policies and adopting others to allow greater flexibility in the use of accrued sick leave.
