President Janet Napolitano holds first town hall for UCOP community

President Napolitano's Nov. 7 UCOP Town Hall

It was standing room only at the Nov. 7 UCOP Town Hall with President Janet Napolitano, her first since taking office Sept. 30.

She kicked off the event with brief remarks and answered questions on a range of topics, from some of her top priorities for UC (maintaining excellence, support for undocumented students, controlling future tuition increases) to how she pronounces her name (it’s “pol” as in politics and “tan” as in suntan).

If you missed the event, you can still check it out on UC’s UStream channel; just click on the thumbnail or event title at the top of the right-hand column.

More than 300 UCOP staff attended the event at the Elihu Harris State Office Building Auditorium, with another 275 following the conversation online.

Co-sponsored by Communications and the OP Staff Assembly, the president’s town halls have been a tradition for several years to promote conversation with the president and give staff the opportunity to ask questions and raise matters of concern.
