Lean In returns this week: Moved to Lobby 1 due to popular demand

Lean In book coverThe Lean In series of facilitated conversations about women’s empowerment in the workplace continues this  Thursday, Feb. 6, 12 to 1 p.m. in Franklin Lobby 1 Conference Room.

The Lean In series is so popular that the Feb. 6 meeting and several others have been moved to larger rooms or another date to accommodate the demand for seats. The series, sponsored by the President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (PACSW), continues monthly through October.

It’s inspired by the book Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead by Sheryl Sandberg, but you don’t need to read the book to participate.

The February topic is based on Sandberg’s third chapter, Success and Likeability. PACSW members Ginny Cox Delaney and Jenny Kao will facilitate the conversation. Among the topics for discussion are:

  • Pleasing others
  • Self promotion
  • Successful negotiating

Check the Link calendar for dates, as most sessions have been moved to larger rooms, including the Laurel Room on the 7th floor of the Broadway building (1111 Broadway between 11th and 12th streets). The July meeting date has been moved to Tuesday, July 1, from the previously scheduled date.

You may register in advance for any or all of the events through the UC Learning Center to assure yourself a spot; just search for Lean In to enroll in the Feb. 6 or any other session. Feel free to bring your lunch and join the conversation.
