Management Skills Assessment Program: Applications due next week

UC’s Fall 2014 Management Skills Assessment Program (MSAP), a weeklong program designed to assess management competencies and skills of UC managers, takes place Oct. 13–16, 2014, at the UCLA Conference Center in Lake Arrowhead.
Completed applications must be submitted on the MSAP program website by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12. The application and additional program details, including cost, program highlights and core competencies, can be found online.
MSAP is designed to assess the management skills of high potential, early career supervisors, managers and professionals for future UC leadership opportunities. The fall event is a pilot bringing together participants — including assessees and assessors —from both northern and southern UC locations in one program.
UCOP has been given two slots for the pilot program. UCOP Local Human Resources recommends that department heads discuss the program with any staff who exhibit potential for management development and encourage them to apply.
Assessees must be full-time career supervisors or managers who have a satisfactory or better performance evaluation. Participants will be selected based on their career goals, management competencies and level of commitment to management skill development.
HR is also looking for two UCOP managers or supervisors to be trained as assessors for the Oct. 13–16 program. Assessor training takes place at UC Davis Sept. 3–4.
Trained assessors guide participants through the program, providing them with increased awareness of management skills, practice in giving and receiving objective feedback and opportunities to collaborate and network with UC colleagues systemwide as well as create plans for advancing their management careers at UC.
